Brainard Lake Recreation Area
Located about an hour from Boulder, this area offers epic mountain views and a variety of location options. Brainard Lake Recreation Areas is part of the Indian Peaks Wilderness area.
No permit is needed for sessions or elopements in this area (this could change though).
The main road is only open in the summer (mid-June through mid-October). Timed entry tickets are required and can be reserved 14 days in advance. Read more about Brainard Lake Recreation Area.
Brainard Lake itself is very easily accessible. The parking lot is about a 10 minute walk from the lake shore. This is a good option if you want a mountain lake that is easily accessible.
This is one of my absolute favorite hikes. The hike itself is gorgeous and Lake Isabelle is stunning. There are some important logistics about this location:
Hiking/Accessibility: The hike is 5.5 miles total round trip (2.75 there and 2.75 back). The trail is not especially difficult or steep, but keep in mind that is it at altitude. Here's a link to the hike on AllTrails.
