Regions of Colorado
Colorado is a big state with awesome locations throughout. These are locations that are farther than 2 hours from Denver/Boulder and require a bit more time and planning. However, these locations are going to be less popular and see less crowds than areas closer to Denver.
These peaks near Aspen, Colorado are iconic. Aspen is located in western Colorado about 4 hours from Denver. There is a 1.9-mile scenic trail that will take you to the most scenic views of the Maroon Bells. The area is very popular, and requires entry permits. In the winter, the road closes and converts to a cross country ski area.

This ski town is about 4.5 hours from Denver. It's a beautiful area with lots of different location options. Since it's more remote, Crested Butte is likely to be less popular and less crowded than other locations closer to Denver.
Ouray is FAR. It's about 5 hours from Denver. But this cool town is near the San Juan Mountains, which offer awesome adventure and elopement locations.
